Lake-Sumter Medical Society

About Us:

The Lake-Sumter Medical Society, established in 1978, is a non-profit, professional association of allopathic (M.D.) and osteopathic physicians (D.O.) who are dedicated to the care of their patients and their profession. Through the power of organized medicine the Medical Society serves as an advocate for physicians and patients by promoting high standards of care, public health, and health education within our communities, state, and nation. To succeed we are committed to vigilance, persistence, and involvement in the public policy process.

The Society is one of 44 component medical societies chartered by the Florida Medical Association.

The LSMS Board of Governors directs the activities of the organization to provide support for member physicians in their practice of medicine by:

1. Political involvement in order to protect the interests of patients and physicians;
   
   
2. Advocating for the highest quality of health care, while ensuring freedom of choice, and access to affordable medical care;
   
   
3. Providing educational resources for medical professionals and the community.
